Summer Snowman

OK so I know it's supposed to still be summer - but having had rain off and on all week and needing a jumper the other day it doesn't feel much like it! So in keeping with my plans to get my Christmas cards made early I've created a snowman card today.  This is for the Compendium of Curiosities challenge over at Studo L3 with lovely Linda, this is a great challenge for those who have Tim Holtz's book.

Determined not to rush it at the last minute again I made a flying start during the week making some backgrounds I was quite happy with using the Blended Batik technique (p36), which you may have seen on my desk for WOYWW. I have since been struggling to turn them into a finished project I liked and this is the only one I'm happy enough to share and even then there are elements I'm not so sure about...but here it is never the less...

The background paper is from DCWV Christmas Stack, with some distress inks and snowflake stampings added. I  wrapped some fibres round my batik paper, which I had over stamped with a PSX snowflake in Faded Jeans and added a snowflake button.  This snowman is one of my favourate Christmas stamps, he's called Frankie and is from Judikins.  A snowflake border sticker (which I'm not sure about ) and some little gems (which I'm always sure about!!) finished off. I'm also going to enter this at - Totally Gorjuss - Christmas in August and Secret Crafter Saturday  - MAKE AN EARLY START ON CHRISTMAS.

I've still got a couple of the Batik papers I made that I haven't ruined completely so will keep trying - off to a nearby shopping village tomorrow where there's a 'Paper Mill' shop so maybe some new stash will inspire me!!  Hope you're enjoying the bank holiday weekend (those of you in the UK that get it of course!)  Esther xx

  3. Esther, I truly love everything about this beautiful card! It's sweet and lovely, and your blended batik is perfect! The overstamping gives it really nice dimension, and the little snowflake and fibers are SO cool. Be very proud of this-- it's a wonderful work of art!
