Marbling fun

Another Layout completed from our Cornwall 2007 holiday.

 This was inspired by Bev's sketch over at 'Scrapping everyday Miracles'

and also by Challenge #300 at 'Lasting Memories' which is 'marbles'.  I love the beautiful patterns found in marbles and so created my own as a background using shaving foam and inks.

I used papers and more pinwheels from my Counterfeit Kit.

I'm really enjoying scrapping these old photos and bringing back some lovely memories - I'm just so glad I made some notes at the time of what we did. Thanks for stopping by...Happy Crafting...Esther xx

Mid-Week Scrapping

I've been away for a lovely few days with my BFF and after getting home last night had an extra day off today to spend with my Other Half. It's been so hot though we decided not to go anywhere and so I got some midweek scrappy time which is unheard of.

I created a second LO with my Counterfeit kit using the second sketch from Stuck?! which will be my title page for pages of a holiday to Cornwall in 2007 - the whole week was dominated by a seagull who used to tap on our chalet door regularly, hence the photo. 

I used the colour palette from the first July challenge at The Studio Challenges

 My Title is the negative from using individual die cutting letters and backing with patterned paper. The word search banner is inspired by challenge three at Counterfeit Kit - Played in the Shade (word games). I used tiny letter stamps and then drew round the words I'd stamped in orange pen.

 I then made some more little pinwheels as inspired by forgeries on the fourth also at CKC.

The Scrap Our Stash book inspired challenge is to use this book cover as inspiration - obviously my page is about a place I've visited, but there is also a couple of die cut scribbled circles inspired by the spirals.   

The challenge also asks us to use 5 patterned papers and a round embellishment.  I used the following papers - 1.Floral and 2. Navy dot from Shimelle True Stories, 3. Waves from Fancy Pants 'Making Waves', 4. orange/black dots from DCWV and 5th orange/red dots has been used to die cut the paper tab embellishments, one of which also counts as a round embellishment.  It's been lovely to have some extra crafting time, thanks for stopping by....Esther xx

Summer at Land's End

I started to scrap the photos of a holiday to Cornwall we took in 2007 and it reminded me that we have some lovely places to visit in this country, we've had our holidays abroad for the last few years but I do enjoy exploring the UK when we get the chance. I'm not doing the photos in order, these were taken midway through the holiday when we went to Land's End. I chose them because I am using my counterfeit kit (which I shall share further down) and the first challenge is to take inspiration from Beach reading. One of the book covers on the inspiration pic was of a sign post which immediately made me think of these pictures. (sorry these photos are a bit dark - couldn't get the lighting right as it was grey and gloomy by the time I took them)

 I'm using the sketch from Stuck?!

I started by creating a Mixed Media background - Gelatos, stamping, texture paste, ink splatters

 I actually didn't use any Patterned papers from my kit, just embellishments and a Journaling card.

 I made the little pinwheels myself and just added some tags, PL cards and Nuvo crystal drops (didn't notice the bottom pinwheel had come unstuck...grrrr...have to go back and fix that.

So here is my version of this months Counterfeit Kit. The CK team have used the Heat Wave Kit from Scrapbook and Cards Today from Summer 2015 and I put together this little lot of paper and embellishments.

Something Old...

The final challenge from the Counterfit Kit Challenge in June is to breath new life into something old. Luckily when I put my kit together I added  a couple of REALLY old papers and so I was able to use a sheet up on this last layout using my kit.

The paper in question is this - I must of had it about 15yrs and have no idea where it's from! I used it as a mat for my photos and also added a strip underneath the photo block.

 The layout is based on the mid-month sketch from Stuck?!

I've really enjoyed my adventure wiht Counterfeit Kit Challenge, now I've finished all the photos from the event I chose to scrap with it I might see about using the leftovers for some cards but I'm already looking forward to next months kit. Thanks for popping by...Happy crafting...Esther xx

More Tea

I've had a bit of time to use up more of the kit I put together inspired by Counterfeit Kit Challenge (details here). I put this page together a few days ago and it uses the sketch over at Creative Scrappers 

Flowers instead of stars but otherwise I've kept pretty close to the sketch using 2 main pictures and tags. 

Pete took the photo of me at a weird angle, which frustrates me but it's the only one of me I have for this occasion.

Today I've been really tired while working on this page and I'm not sure about it - I wish I'd angled the paper layers but it is what it is now. 

This page is based on the Week 2 sketch from Let's get Sketchy 

 
I've also taken inspiration from Counterfit Kit Challenge #2 - In Quotes and have written out a paragraph from Alice in Wonderland on a hand stamped journaling card.

I still have loads of kit left and a couple more photos of this day out so hopefully a good nights sleep and I'll be more focused to work on the next page tomorrow...Thanks for stopping by...Esther xx

Afternoon Tea

This month I'm joining in with the Counterfeit Kit Challenge and this is the first layout I've made with my kit.  

I've had my eye on this challenge for a while but never got round to joining in. The kit chosen to be inspired by is the May Hip Kit Club Kit. 

So the idea is to put together your own kit based on the inspiration kit.  I loved the floral paper and so that was my starting point. I have to admit that as I was pulling this together I began to get ideas of photographs to use and have called it Afternoon Tea for reasons that will become obvious. 

I then set about creating an embellishment kit - I don't have the budget for lots of ready made embellishments or digital cutting machines but love making my own anyway. I had great fun using my stamps and die cuts - I went with a predominantly water colour style - again some of the embellishments were created with specific photos in mind.   

 The inspiration on the Counterfeit blog is published in stages but as I'm coming late to the party this month I've done the kit assembling, forgeries on the fourth and Mood board all together.  I made some large enamel button embellishments and also took inspiration from the guest DT member and created my own decorated paper clips and die cut word embellishments. The tea pots and cups are stamped and embossed and the flowers and cake stands stamped in archival ink then painted with distress inks. I also used distress inks to create colour washed card to die cut my alphas. 

The Mood board is from Burnetts Boards and I took the floral place settings and plates with painted flowers as my inspiration. I've never bought or put together a kit before and the layout came together so easily.  I used the sketch over at Let's get Sketchy as a starting point for using my kit. 

I've loved putting together my first kit and am looking forward to creating more layouts with it.
