Alcohol, Alcohol everywhere and not a drop to drink !!

I'm talking of course about Alcohol inks..those yummy bottles of gorgeous colour that just seem to keep me happy for hours - that is until i run out of glossy card as is the situation now  :-( But luckily before that happened I was able to create a couple of pieces - spurred on by the arrival of my copy of Tim Holtz's compendium of curiosities.  Now I'm a huge huge fan of Tim's, love his work, but I was a little disappointed that the first pages of this book seemed to me just a catalogue advertising products disguised as ideas pages (I know, I know, I'm cynical - and I only find this a bit frustrating because I can't really afford them and the book was an extravagance for me - sorry little moment over with!), I soon went on to gaze lovingly at the next pages which are full of lovely ways to create and play...and here's what happened next -
Now this tag is a CASE (Copy and Steal Everything) of a tag made by Hels Sheridan on her blog here.  I've not become a thief overnight, it's for the Gingersnap Creations once in a blue moon challenge which is a 'dare to pick a piece created by one of our talented Gingers Design Team within the last six months and, using your own images and flair, create your own sensational piece of art.' Not sure about the sensational bit but I gave it a go. I chose this tag because I really liked it and Alcohol inks are one of my favourite things, but also because it ties in with the Compendium of Curiosities Challenge over at Studio L3. So while I was creating for Gingersnaps I also made this card to enter there also. I'm not sure if it's a bit dull but I was going for a contrast to the vibrant busy brightness of the previous one.
Thakns for looking and thanks to Hels for the inspiration - Esther xx

  4. Beautifully done, Esther, in both cases! The first one is so happy and bright in the best way! And, your second card doesn't look dull- just soft and lovely!

I hope once you spend more time with your new book, you'll learn to love it as much as I do. Either way, though, I'm thrilled that you have it and are joining in on the Compendium Challenges! See you next week??

    Hugs,
    Linda

  7. Esther, both are lovely pieces of art! I look at the first part of my book as a bonus - a little eye candy. To me the book is worth it's price to have all these cool techniques in one place...so much easier than hunting the internet. Hope you enjoy the challenges and come to love your book more & more :)

  12. Your creations are so pretty!

And, from someone out in Reno, Nevada, who also had to "break the bank" to buy the book ... I'm with you in the cynicism. :)
