Today I've made a layout so far removed from usual creative style I keep looking at it wondering if I actually made it ! I had a photo I really loved from a recent birthday trip to our local seaside town where we spent some time on the pier playing the 'penny machines' something which I hadn't done for a long long time but which brought back lots of memories from my early teenage years as it hadn't really changed that much.
I knew it would need something different from my usual inky, messy way and I'd seen this inspiration pic over at Pixels and Papers and loved the colours and sprinkles.
Then at my monthly crop this weekend a friend reminded me of some Pinterest pics I'd seen of layouts using Nuvo Crystals to create lots of enamel dots - and I thought it would work for this photo. I was also inspired by the August week 1 sketch over at Let's get sketchy -
I used my Heidi Swapp sunshine stencil and created sections of enamel dots, patterned paper (Shimelle's True Stories) and stamping. I added some Stickles in with the enamel dots for extra bling.
Then I layered up the photo mostly using paper from Shimelles True Stories range. I added glossy accents to the letters and light bulb for a bit of shine. I think I shall be returning to my ink and messiness but I've enjoyed trying something different for a change.I'm also linking up to Shimelle's challenge which this week is to use lots of layers.
