I’m so enjoying my return to scrapbooking, and have spent the best part of this afternoon creating another couple of pages. These are 8x8 layouts for a heritage album of my mum’s family. The first layout is based on this sketch at ‘Just Add Ink’ and I hope fits the 13@rts colour palette at ‘The colour rooms’.
I’ve been doing a lot of online browsing at scrapbookers blogs and stores – styles have changed no end and my supplies consist of mainly pretty papers (some older not so pretty) and some quite dodgy, not terribly trendy stickers, which was mostly all that was available when I started. I was feeling a bit glum about not having loads of gorgeous stash but then realised I have all my stamping/card making supplies and decided to make my own. First thing I did was a banner for my titles, cut from scraps and stitched with added letter stickers -
and then I also made some fabric flowers, cut from Tim Holtz tattered floral die, stamped with archival ink and finished with some Frantage Champagne glitter.
My next layout actually sits before the one above and works as a double page spread – although I created the titles to work as individual pages too.
This page is based on the sketch at sketch ‘N’ Scrap. I had to adjust it slightly to fit my photos. I’m also adding these to a couple of challenges over at Two Peas in a Bucket. I have to say I’m really happy wiht these layouts – I feel like I’m getting back in the swing of it and once I got over my frustration at not having a load of shop bought embellishments I had a great time creating.
WOW!!! these are 2 stunning pages Esther- I love them both- I love the pennants especially and the colours, Debi x
ReplyDeleteAwesome work! I LOVE LOVE your flowers, so pretty!!!! The banner is awesome too! Sometimes we don't need all the latest and greatest stuff, but it sure does make you drool for it doesn't it?! Thanks for joining us at Sketch N Scrap!
ReplyDeleteThese are both lovely Esther! I love a bit of scrapbooking too, but never seem to find the time, except for once a month when I go to a friends house and we scrap for the evening (although we don't get much scrapbooking done if you know what I mean!).
ReplyDeleteI think I will have to have a go with those lovely sketches.

Your layouts are definitely better for homemade embellies, sometimes we think it would be easier to just stick on some shop bought ones but where's the fun in that?
