Things have been a little stressful here over the past couple of weeks, work’s really busy and other bits going on so today I decided to take some time out for me and get creative. One of my new projects for this year which I haven't had as much time for as I'd like is an Art Journal. It took me ages to pluck up the courage to have a go and I've loved it so far, and found it very therapeutic so it was perfect for today. I kept it fairly simple, and with it being February went for a hearts theme, combined with things that I love. The background for both pages was a layer of gesso, coloured with pink sherbet distress stains and stamped with the free heart stamp from Craft Stamper in Distress inks.
The first page was made by creating a collage of paper scraps, glued onto some parchment paper for backing and then cut into a heart shape. This is a fairly new technique to me but I loved how this came out.
The second page is smaller hearts – a chipboard piece covered with dictionary definitions for ‘read’, ‘book’ and ‘story’, Card stock stamped with music manuscript and another with random stamped images.
I finished off by stamping other favourite activities round the edges – from a set by Personal Impressions. I'm going to share this at The Artistic Stamper in their ‘hearts’ theme, and also at My Mojo Monthly where the theme is ‘Heartstrings’.
Thanks for stopping by, I hope you’ve all enjoyed the weekend, I feel relaxed and ready for the week now thanks to my crafty sessions ! Esther xx
