I've had a such a great couple of weeks - I won two challenges at 'The Stamp Man' and 'Sir Stampalot' and had a lovely weekend away for my partners birthday. Back in the real world I was supposed to be studying this afternoon, but after a couple of hours my brain was too full of the ideas I had for craft challenges..they wouldn't stop nagging at me and so I gave up and got creative. I've use the same stamp (by Inkadinkadoo - quite old but one of my favourates) on both the projects I made but they couldn't be more different. First is my entry to Linda's new Grungy Monday Challenge. this challenge is to satisfy all us Tim fans who would of gone into serious withdrawal when the Compendium of Curiosities challenge ended, so thanks Linda for another great idea!
The tag is based on the techniques Tim demonstrated for No10 of his 12 tags of Christmas 2008. I've used the colours from The Play Date Cafe challenge, masking and spritzing and distressing the tag.
I stamped the image in silver Encore ink and when embossed with black EP it gives a silvery sheen which I think you can just see in the pic (click to enlarge for a better view)
My second project was a CAS card for the Less is More challenge which this week is a 'touch of red' . I love that these challenges inspire me to use colours and techniques which I would otherwise shy away from - I wouldn't normally choose red as a colour to use but love how this image turned out. I'm not at all sure about the placing on this card - should I have put the image more central or just higher up? I've used a Nestie to create a mask through which I applied Pumice Stone Distress ink before stamping the image directly onto the card and adding the touch of red with my Crimson Pro-marker. I always struggle to know when I think a CAS card is finished but after stamping a message and flourishes I decided to leave well alone before I went too far! So what do you think ? This is a learning curve for me so any comments very welcome....
