Well as another weekend draws to a close I've had another lovely few hours at my crafting desk. Continuing from yesterday with my mustard Seed, Wild Honey, Dried Marigold and Aged Mahogany distress inks I made a card for my Dads birthday who is a wine lover. The inspiration came from this great picture at The Play Date Cafe and conjured up images of sitting on one of those balconies in the Italian Sun, sipping Merlot listening to Vivaldi (oohh....don't I sound cultured - more likely to be sitting in the English rain, with a strongbow listening to Bon Jovi!).
Anyway here is the card - the stamp is by Stamps Happen inc. and I stamped it twice, cut a bottle from one and the glass from the second out, painted with distress inks and decoupaged. The background is trusty distress inks stamped with one of my favourite background stamps by Stampabilities in Walnut Stain . As it's for my dad I've kept it simple.
As well as The Play Date Cafe I'm sending this to the Gingersnaps Creations Colour Challenge which is Yellow, Orange and red, and the ABC Challenge 'A' is for August challenge as I wish I was sitting in the Italian sun drinking red wine for my hols!
I then changed style completely and made a card for my 'cards to sell' box which I have been neglecting recently. This card was inspired by, and will be entered into, the challenges at Craftalicious 'Make your own flower' , Penny Black @ Allsorts 'Glitter and Glitz' and Stamptacular 'snips and snails and puppy dogs tails' and Creative Inspirations 'recycled element'.
Once I got thinking about the things I had that I could use as my recycled elements I realised I had quite a few. The card I have stamped the image on is a cut off from my friends wedding invitations we made last weekend , the flower I made from scraps of material, I 'gutted' the glitter card before matting and used the leftovers to punch the flowers, the green wire is cut from flowers used on other cards that were too long and the ribbon is from a clothing tag (May my OH never tell me off again for never throwing anything way!). Both the green and pink card are very glittery but it doesn't show up well on the photo. The stamps are Penny Black and I've used distress inks to create a background to stamp them on and then paint them with. Not sure about this card - every time I try this style rather than grungy/inky I'm never really happy with the result.
Well I'm off for a glass of wine (not in the Italian sun unfortunately) and an exploration in the fridge to see if I can create some dinner! Thanks for stopping by..Esther x
