Under The sea - Fashionable Stamping Challenge

I recently treated myself to a set of Tim Holtz Blueprint stamps and this months 'Under the Sea' challenge over at Fashionable Stamping, set by Dani, was the perfect excuse to ink them up and create a tag. I actually ended up fussy cutting the focal elements out.
I meant to take some progress photos but as usual I got carried away creating and only managed one of the background. I added colour to the tag using distress inks, then brushed over some clear gesso before adding texture paste through a stencil. The gesso stops the paste taking on colour from the inky background which sometimes I like but on this occasion I didn't want that look.  I added stamping and little paint bubbles and splatters.
I inked along the bottom with brushed twig DI before adding bead gel. I then dropped rusty hinge distress re-inker onto the gel and mixed in by dabbing with a brush, this lifted some of the bead gel creating a more random finish.
The seahorse and starfish were made by 'ironing' Angelina fibres onto an inked stamp. I love this technique and hadn't used it in ages.
I finished off with some shell embellishments I made with cloud clay in silicon moulds and no sea bed would be complete without pearls.

Don't forget we are a stamping challenge so we do need to see rubber/acrylic stamping on your project. To qualify for the winner’s prize we especially need to see that the stamping is the focal point on the project and that the stamping follows the format of the theme.

NO DIGI STAMPS ARE ALLOWED …but you may use digi downloads for enhancement of your projects … please remember that the main focal point must be STAMPING.

The winner of each challenge will receive a very generous voucher of $20 for Flonz’s Store

I'm looking forward to seeing lots of beautiful 'under the sea' creations'....Happy crafting....Esther

  3. A fabulous tag Esther, love the shimmer the Angelina fibers give to the seahorse (a technique I haven't used for ages too).
