The rules for April were-
1.. Keep a part of the original picture and incorporate that into your design
2, Technique - use drips and splatters
3. Add - a repeating shape or word as many times as possible
4. Blog your calendar page and link up from April 1st 2015
I forgot to take photos along the way (gotta get back into the swing of things) so only have completed pics to share
I started by die cutting butterflies using Tim Holtz die on which you get a solid die cut as well as with cut outs. I used the solid pieces as masks before painting layer of gesso to prepare the page. Onto this I scribbled bands of gelatos which I then blended with water and a paint brush. For the repeating pattern I struggled to find a stamp I was happy with and ended up using an alphabet (Stamp Addicts) like Darcy did in Archival black ink. I also stamped a border of large dots (PaperArtsy) with white paint and added splatters of Dylusons ink sprays.
Once I'd removed the masks I added the butterflies which I had blinged up with stickles and which allow some of the original picture to show through. I also added some smaller die cut butterflies cur from watercolour paper coloured with dylusions ink spray sand stamped with polka dots.
As well as linking to Darcy's blog (although cheating a bit as it's now May's post which I hope is ok ), I'm also sharing my calender page here -
So better late than never but now I need to get on with May's page - thinking cap on again... Thanks for stopping by...Happy Crafting... Esther xx
