Craft Room Collage

Hi all – sorry for the late post, but had a bit of a tricky weekend so things got delayed. But am here now with the latest challenge details for Craft-Room. It was my turn to choose a theme and for some reason I thought ‘Collage’ would be a good idea…til I started to try and make my sample. I think Some of my teamies struggled with this theme too, but came up with some beautiful creations so do pop over and visit them.

The Oxford dictionary defines Collage as -
'A piece of art made by sticking various materials such as photographs and pieces of paper or fabric on to a backing'.
To start off my collage I chose a colour theme then gathered together  bits and pieces of fabric and ribbon etc.

I cut a piece of fabric to the size I wanted to use as a base. I chose some green fabric and did some inking and stamping on it in purple and gold.

I inked a skeleton leaf with clear embossing ink and heat embossed with gold powder.  I also had some scraps of fusible fibres from previous projects that I re-heated together and have used in the top right and bottom left corners.

The image is a stamp from Indigo Blu – who are our generous sponsors for this challenge.

I used Transfer Artisit Paper to transfer the stamped image onto a dried wet wipe previously used to mop up purple ink to which I also added some script stamping.

That all didn't’ really take long – but then I had the job of putting it all together… well I fiddled and moved it around and moved it around and fiddled some more, left it, made a cuppa, fiddled some more….you get the idea ! Once I had eventually got everything positioned where I wanted it I stuck it down quickly before adding stitching and mounting it all onto a piece of dark green card leaving a small border. I'm going to use my piece as a wall hanging - or maybe in a stand up Frame.
Phew – well done if you’re still with me – that was a long post ! I really hope you join in with our challenge – go on try something different there are really no rules for creating a collage – just go with it ! Esther xx
I’m also sharing my collage wall hanging here -

  4. Me again Esther, sorry for the stunted comment above, this word recognition system is wonderful except it doesn't see the need for adjectives and tends to miss out.

  10. Hi Esther, this is fantastic, I love your bold and vibrant colours and stamping the whole project comes together beautifully. I also find the placing of all the elements takes me absolutely ages. I am the worlds slowest crafter. LOL. X

  11. This is really gorgeous Esther, I love the different textures - the fabric is a lovely addition, and your image has transferred beautifully onto the wipe. Although dubious about making a collage, I absolutely loved making mine so thanks for a great challenge!
