Letting off Steam…

I haven’t had a great week, had a stinky cold which seems to be going on for ever and my father in Law had a stroke on Wednesday which has been a bit of a shock – and of course because of my cold I’ve had to keep my distance so have felt a bit helpless. He’s doing ok though thank goodness so today I allowed myself some unwinding inky time at my craft desk. I went for a Steampunk theme as this is the challenge over at Fashionable Stamping.

I made an Easel card, following the sketch from The Friday MashUp and layering panels that were inked and stamped with Distress inks – stamps from Artistic Stamper, Rogue Redhead, Tim Holtz and Indigo Blu.

SD533425

I created the focal panel on a piece of Chipboard coloured with Distress inks which I coated with 3 layers of  UTEE adding some tiny watch parts and Egyptian Gold EP while it was still hot.  I also stamped into it before it set  - cogs stamp by Artistic Stamper. The bottle is another stamp from Artistic Stamper on shrink plastic with Tim Holtz stamped and shrunk wings.

I don’t have lots of shop bought embellishments so created my own little watch and chain – with a type charm, watch face cut from Tim Holtz paper and a piece of chain from an old key ring. Wasn’t until I added this photo that I noticed I hadn’t put any hands on  - this weeks deliberate mistake !  Despite this I had great fun making my card and am feeling more confident about the whole Steampunk theme which I didn’t used to really get ! I might even give this to my dad for his Birthday which is coming up soon.

I’m sharing my card here -

Fashionable Stamping – Steampunk

  2. This is steampunk all the way Esther a fabulous card. I hope your cold is getting better now - how difficult it is to give your support when someone is in hospital and you are not fit enough to go in. I really hope your FiL is recovering well.
