Any of who who saw my post the other day will know that I have been a bit behind with the birthday cards for my family, but I am pleased to say I have now caught up and am sorted till August!! This first offering is for my great nieces' first birthday - I painted Dancing Matilda with distress inks (Tattered Rose, Milled Lavender, Worn Lipstick, Mustard Seed and Dusty Concord) and punched flowers which I stamped with stripes and spots (Both Hero Arts Stamps). The paper is from Autumn Leaves (Paper Princess) and the pink card stock whihc isn't quite as bright as it looks on here is DCWV. I computer generated the sentiment and inked the edges with Milled Lavender DI. A few tiny buttons and some Stickles crystal glitter glue finished the whole thing off. I'm entering this into a few challenges too -
- Just Magnolia - sketch
- Charisma Cardz - spots and stripes
- Allsorts - Lace and/or Buttons
- Crafty Calender - Bugs and beasties (on the BG paper)
- One stitch at a time - celebrations
Although I make cutsey cards like the one above for specific occasions because they fit, and I know the recipient will like them, I'm never really that happy with them and much prefer getting mesy with my inks and a far more collage/grungy style.
So I then made something completely different for Fathers day. My dad has just returned from a cruise and I thought this would remind him of his travels...It's so hard making cards for men isn't it...The BP are from Basic Grey ( Urban Prairie/bluebird and Infuse Saturate), the stamps are from Judikins and part of the Artifacts Cube. I used my new gold Stazon ink pad to stamp onto acetate and then layered this onto the brown paper strip, then stamped a further image which I embossed (sorry the pic is a bit blurry). I have added stamped images to the turquoise background paper also from the artifacts cube and the quote is computer generated from my Scrapbook Factory software.
This card is being sent on its way to these challenges -
I'm back to work tomorrow after a couple of weeks at home - going to have to learn how to schedule posts !!
